VMware certification – no more separate portals on PearsonVUE

VMware certification system was designed such that a test taker had two different portals for booking a certification. The associate and professional level exams (VCA and VCP) were available under one portal and all the other advanced level exams (VCIX and VCDX) were made available on a separate portal. This in turn made it necessary to have separate credentials on the PearsonVUE website.

This is not the case going forward. All the pre-approved VMware certifications will be visible in a single portal and one can book all the exams from associate level to advanced level without maintaining a separate set of credentials.

Personally, I’m happy about this as it will avoid extra task of maintaining two separate credentials and having separate candidate IDs for the certs. This is not only good for scheduling the exams but also while viewing the history of all the certification attempts.

With the introduction of authorization process to streamline the certification process and now this, it’s good to see that VMware is making sure the candidates have a good experience with the whole certification process. Note that the PearsonVUE still has separate portals for the exams but they both lead you to the same one. I’m sure they are working towards getting that fixed.

I would love to hear from you guys about this new improvement in the certification process.
